Happy Fall, all! And just like that, we’re deep into the autumn season. And with the changing of the seasons comes the changing of our wardrobe – but not so fast, literally. Something our industry has seen is the rise of fast fashion – what is it and why is it so bad?
Fast fashion is when retailers use lower-cost designs that are meant to move to stores quickly and to change with the seasons. However, in order to meet this demand, creating fast fashion is also known to produce low-quality apparel, often exploiting the garment workers and does quite a number on the environment. Fast Fashion leaves a huge footprint on the environment due to the energy and resources. In fact, according to a recent Levi Strauss study, just producing one pair of jeans alone emits as much carbon as driving a car 80 miles.
So, what do we at Linda Cabot Design believe in? Well, for starters, ethical production is at the forefront of everything we do. Our products are sewn locally in Massachusetts, with pay above minimum wage.

Our goal is to source materials that make as minimal an impact on our environment as possible. Meet, Tencel. Tencel uses certified fibers that are biodegradable and compostable/created in a closed-loop production process with low environmental impact.
The good news: some of our products are made of fabric remnants from prior production projects, our attempt to promote ethical, zero-waste production.
